Adding a shipping address
In this help article, we’ll cover adding a shipping address to your checkout using custom fields.
Your customer's shipping address
Adding custom fields to your one page checkout makes it easy to capture your customer’s shipping address.
There are two options for adding a shipping address to your checkout:
- Adding custom fields and assigning data types (recommended)
- Adding custom fields only
Data types
Data types are used to store custom field data (your customer responses) in a structured manner.
For example, if you wanted to capture your customer's name, assigning the data type of Customer name means we can structure this data appropriately.
This is especially useful when connecting Checkout Page with other apps using our Zapier integration.
Adding a shipping address with custom fields and assigning data types
You can add a shipping address with multiple custom fields or a single custom field:
- Multiple custom fields, each with the appropriate shipping address data type assigned to them (recommended)
- A single custom field with the Shipping address data type assigned to it
The advantage of using multiple custom fields is that your customer’s shipping address data will have more structure and will be easier to use.
Multiple custom fields
- Under the Fields tab, click Add custom field
2. Select a Text field from the dropdown
3. Add Label text
4. Add Placeholder text
5. Select the appropriate data type for the purpose of this field
6. Check This field is required if a response is required
7. Click Save 8. Repeat for every shipping address field you wish to add
Example
- Name: Customer name
- Email: Customer email address
- Shipping address 1: Shipping address
- Shipping address 2: Shipping address line 2
- City: Shipping address city
- Postcode: Shipping address postal code
Single custom field
- Under the Fields tab, click Add custom field
2. Select a text or textarea field from the dropdown
3. Add Label text
4. Add Placeholder text
5. Select the Shipping address data type
6. Check This field is required if a response is required
7. Click Save 8. Now you’ve added a shipping address to your checkout!
Example
- Name: Customer name
- Email: Customer email address
- Shipping address: Shipping address
Please note that you must add (and make required) custom fields that use the Customer name and Shipping address data types if you wish to use any of the other shipping address data types.

Adding a shipping address with custom fields only
It’s not required that you assign data types to your custom fields.
Follow the multiple custom fields or single custom field examples above without assigning data types.
