**Pay what you want** pricing is great for letting your customers decide how much they want to pay.

However, you can also use **Pay what you want** pricing to accept donations.

For example, by changing the label text **Pay what you want** to something like "Make your donation here", you’ve repurposed your checkout!

It’s also possible to use variants to suggest donation amounts.

Please note that if you’re accepting donations, your checkout name, description & label text should make this explicitly clear.

### How to accept donations with **Pay what you want** pricing

1.  Create a checkout
    
2.  Select **Pay what you want** as your pricing
    
3.  Add a **Minimum price** (minimum donation amount)
    
4.  Select your **Currency**
    
5.  Click **Create checkout**
    
6.  Under **Design**, scroll down to **Custom labels**, then find **Pay what you want** and **Pay what you want placeholder**

7.  Update this field label to "Make your donation here" and placeholder to something like “Amount in USD”
    
8.  Scroll further down to adjust the text for the **Submit button** if you wish
    
9.  Now you’re ready to start accepting donations!

Add a **Minimum price** to set the lowest amount someone can donate.

**How to add variants**

1.  Create a checkout
    
2.  From the second **Product** screen, click **Add variant**

## Archiving checkouts

While you can't delete your one page checkout, you can still archive it to remove it and hide it from your checkout list.

Archiving a checkout makes it unavailable to your customers and removes it from your list of checkouts.

You can still view your archived checkouts from any payment page associated with these checkouts.

**Please note: You cannot unarchive your checkout once it has been archived.**

To archive a checkout, follow these steps:

1. Open your Checkout Page dashboard and click the dropdown arrow next to the checkout you'd like to archive
2. Click **Archive** and confirm **OK** in the pop-up

## Create your first checkout

Checkout Page makes it easy to sell digital downloads, subscriptions, products, and services directly from your site or social profiles.

It is a one page checkout that you can seamlessly add to any website.

**How to create a checkout:**

* Click **Create checkout** from your dashboard
* Add your **Product name**
* Choose your **Pricing**
* Add your **Amount** under **Price**
* Select your **Currency**

### Product name

Name the digital download, subscription, product, or service that you are selling.

How to create checkouts


We’ve introduced this feature to help those of you with many checkouts manage your dashboard easier.

Here's how you can rename your one page checkout:

1. Go to your Checkout Page dashboard and click on your checkout
2. Hover over your checkout name top left (above the **Product** name field)

4. Rename your checkout

That’s it, you’ve named your checkout with your own name.

Your checkout name won’t be visible to your customers.

### Why name your checkouts?

**Problem:**

You have many checkouts, many with long product names, making it hard to find the checkout you’re looking for.

**Solution:**

Name each checkout with a short descriptive name.

For example: “Marketing guide PDF”

Instead of: “Email Marketing Made Simple: The Definitive Guide (PDF)”.

**Problem:**

You’re A/B testing 3 checkouts that have the same product name but each has different checkout fields.

**Solution:**

Name every checkout referencing the test it belongs to.

For example: “Test A, contact details only”

This article will help you better manage your checkouts by naming them with a different name than your product name.

## How to create one-time pricing

One-time pricing is great for selling digital downloads, products, and services.

Simply create a one page checkout and select **One-time** as your pricing.

1. Create a checkout
2. Select **One-time** as your pricing
3. Add your **Amount** under **Price**
4. Select your **Currency**
5. Optionally, check the box if you'd like to:

* **Add discounted from pricing** to show the original price of your product
* **Charge a setup fee** if your product requires additional fees to set it up
6. Click **Create checkout**
7. Now you’ve created a one page checkout with one-time pricing!

### "Discounted from" pricing

You can choose to add the original price of your product to show the discount you're offering.

Tick **Add discounted from price** and enter the original price of your product.

### Setup fee

You can charge a one-time setup fee to your customer when they purchase your product.

When creating a checkout, simply tick the box to **Charge a setup fee**, enter the amount and it will be added to your checkout.

Example:

You are selling a web design service for $2,000. In addition to your standard web design fees, it is also required to register the domain, set up the hosting and migrate the existing content. This is a one-off service, which is not included in the design fees but is required for you to provide the design service. In this case, you could charge an additional $500 setup fee to cover the costs incurred.

One-time pricing


Subscription pricing is a rolling payment plan, recurring at the interval of your choice.

Simply create your one page checkout and select **Subscription** as your pricing.

## How to create subscription pricing

1. Create a checkout
2. Select **Subscription** as your pricing
3. Set your **Amount** under **Price**
4. Select your **Currency**
5. Select how often the payment **Repeats** (daily/weekly/monthly/every 3 months/every 6 months/yearly)
6. Optionally, check the box if you'd like to:

* **Add discounted from pricing** to show the original price of your subscription
* **Offer a free trial** and enter the number of days
* **Charge a setup fee** along with the first subscription payment
* **Select price from Stripe** to reuse products and prices from Stripe
7. Click **Create checkout**
8. Now you’ve created a checkout with subscription pricing!

### "Discounted from" pricing

You can choose to add a strike-through price to your subscription to show the discount you're offering.

Select **Add discounted from price** and enter the original price of your subscription.

### Trial periods

Set a period of days where your customers can try your product without being charged.

Tick to **Offer a free trial** and enter the number of days.

Your customers will be charged as soon as the trial period ends.

Your customer purchases a subscription on May 3 at 14:00 with a 5-day trial period.

Your customer will be charged on May 10 at 14:00.

### Setup fee

You can charge a one-time setup fee to your customer when they sign up for a new subscription.

Example:

Your customer purchases a subscription of $49 per month and a $199 initial setup fee, charged once.

### Select price from Stripe

When you set up a new subscription or payment plan, Checkout Page automatically creates a new **price** for you on Stripe. This **price** mirrors the settings from Checkout Page and bills your customers accordingly.

If you are an existing Stripe user and have already set up a number of products on Stripe, you can easily reuse one of your existing payment plans or subscriptions by selecting a **price** from Stripe.

This way you can keep your Stripe account organized, subscribing your customers to the same plan you have already been using and reuse the same **price** across multiple checkouts.

## Managing customers

You can view your subscription customers on the **Subscriptions** page.

From your dashboard, navigate to **Payments** and then **Subscriptions** to view all your subscribers and their status.

Here you will see the plan a customer has subscribed to and any other information they provided at checkout.

You can click on each subscription to manage it. This will allow you to open the subscription in the Stripe dashboard, where you can make any changes if needed.

## Subscription analytics

From your **Checkouts** page, click on **Payments** next to your checkout and view **Analytics**.

Here you will see the statistics for your subscription, like the total number of subscriptions, volume, visits and referrals.

## Subscription management for customers

Your customers can manage their subscriptions in your customer portal.

They receive a link to your portal in the payment confirmation email.

To see the link to your customer portal, open **Settings** from your dashboard and click on the **Customer portal**.

A customer can access your customer portal by filling in their email address. They will then receive an email with a link that provides access to the portal for 20 minutes.

Subscription pricing


The payment plan consists of a number of payments, recurring at the interval of your choice. In comparison to a subscription, you can limit your payment plan to a fixed number of payments. It can also be used to allow your customers to pay for your product in instalments.

Simply create a one page checkout and select **Payment plan** as your pricing.

1. Create a checkout
2. Select **Payment plan** as your pricing
3. Set your **Amount** under **Price**
4. Select your **Currency**
5. Select how often the payment **Repeats** (daily/weekly/monthly/every 3 months/every 6 months/yearly)
6. Enter the **Number of payments** to automatically end your subscription after the last payment or leave it blank for a rolling payment plan
7. Optionally, check the box if you'd like to:

* **Add discounted from pricing** if you wish to show the original price of your p
* Choose to **Offer a free trial** and enter the number of days
* Tick the box to **Charge a setup fee** together with the first payment of your plan
* **Select price from Stripe** to reuse products and prices from Stripe
8. Click **Create checkout**
9. Now you’ve created a one page checkout with a payment plan!

### "Discounted from" pricing

You can choose to add the original price of your product or service to show the discount you're offering.

Select **Add discounted from price** and enter the original price before the discount.

## Capture leads

Checkout Page makes capturing leads easy. Create a checkout, select **Lead capture** and you’ve just created a one page lead capture form!

### Create a lead capture form

1. Create a checkout
2. Choose **Lead capture** under **Pricing**
3. Click **Create checkout** to continue
4. Scroll down to add **Downloads** and create a lead magnet (optional)

5. From **Fields** tab, **Add custom field** for the information that you wish to capture (Name, company name, email, etc)

## Notifications after submission

You will receive a submission confirmation email containing your new lead's contact information.

Your new lead will also receive a confirmation email of their submission.

If you want to send your new lead a custom email or turn emails off, navigate to **After payment** and then **Email confirmation** to select from the following options:

* Default email
* Custom email
* No email

## Contacting new leads

After successful submission, you can find your lead's contact information in two different ways:

* You will receive a submission confirmation email with your lead’s contact information
* Under **Payments**, every submission will have its own payment page that contains your lead’s contact information

There are multiple advantages to duplicating your one page checkouts instead of creating a new one every time you want to sell.

## Create a checkout template

You can create a one page checkout template and duplicate it every time you want to add a new checkout.

Add all the fields and style your one page checkout so you don't have to do it from scratch every time.

This way you can quickly fill in the necessary details and leave the rest the same to keep it consistent.

1. **Create checkout** from your dashboard
2. Go through the form to set up your template
3. Return to **Checkouts** on your dashboard and click the drop-down arrow next to the checkout you want to duplicate
4. **Duplicate** your checkout

That's it, now you've created a one page checkout template!

You can rename the checkout by clicking on it from the dashboard and hovering over your checkout name top left (above the Product name field).

## A/B test your checkout conversion

You can easily create different checkout layouts for the same product to see which one generates more sales.

The easiest way to do it is by duplicating your checkout and making adjustments, so you don't have to start from scratch every time.

To **Duplicate** your checkout, click on the drop-down arrow next to your checkout from the **Checkouts** tab on the dashboard.

You can check your checkout's **Analytics** by clicking on the **Payments** button next to each checkout from the **Checkouts** tab.

Duplicating checkouts


Linking your checkouts together to create multi-step checkouts opens up a number of advantages not possible with one page checkouts:

* Break up longer checkouts into steps
* Build complex sales funnels
* Display upsells after successful checkout
* Track cart abandonment

## Linking checkouts together to create a multi-step checkout

1. Create two or more one page checkouts
2. Edit your first checkout
3. Under **After payment**, open **Checkout confirmation & redirect**
4. Check **Next checkout** for what your customer sees after successful checkout
5. Select your second checkout from the dropdown

7. Repeat for every checkout being linked together

That’s it, you’ve just created a multi-step checkout!

There is no limit to the number of one page checkouts in a multi-step checkout.

When linking checkouts, it’s possible to pre-fill fields between checkouts.

#### Pro tip!

We recommend **duplicating your first checkout** as a starting point for your second checkout, and so on. This will save you time adding duplicate fields and make pre-filling fields between your checkouts less error-prone.

## Transitioning your customer between checkouts

Every subsequent checkout will always be displayed in the same way as your previous checkout.

Let’s say the first step of your multi-step checkout was displayed to your customers in a pop-up on your landing page.

The next checkout step your customer will see will also be displayed in a pop-up.

This is true for payment links, checkout pop-ups, and responsive embeds.

## Pre-filling checkout fields when linking your checkout to another checkout

When linking one page checkouts, fields with the same **Reference** will be pre-filled (except your card field).

1. Edit your checkout
2. Navigate to **Fields**
3. Click the pencil icon to edit your field

#### Linking two checkouts & pre-filling your customer's email address example

In the following example, you’ll create two checkouts, link Checkout 1 to Checkout 2, and pre-fill your customer email address in Checkout 2 from Checkout 1.

1. Create two checkouts
2. Edit your first checkout
3. Under **After payment**, open **Checkout confirmation & redirect**
4. Check **Next checkout** for what your customer sees after successful checkout
5. Select your second checkout from the dropdown

9. Paste **Reference** from Checkout 1 into your Email **Reference**
10. Click **Save**

That’s it, you’ve linked Checkout 1 to Checkout 2, pre-filling your customer's email address in Checkout 2 from Checkout 1.

There is no limit to the type and number of fields you can pre-fill when linking a checkout to a checkout (except your card field).

#### Pro tip!

We recommend **duplicating your first checkout** as a starting point for your second checkout, and so on. This will save you time adding duplicate fields and make pre-filling fields between your checkouts less error-prone because your field **Reference** will be exactly the same.

## Hiding checkout fields

### Why hide checkout fields

Hiding pre-filled checkout fields is a great way to improve your customer checkout experience by reducing barriers and speeding up their checkout.

### How to hide checkout fields

1. Edit a checkout
2. Navigate to **Fields**
3. Click the pencil icon to edit any field

4. Scroll down & open **Additional settings**
5. Check **Hide field**

That’s it, you’ve hidden this field in your checkout.

In your preview, your hidden field will be greyed out. Don’t worry though, your field is only visible to you.

#### Exceptions to hidden fields

* Hidden fields will be visible to your customers if there is no pre-filled value & the field is required
* For email fields, if the pre-filled value is not a valid email address (display current value)

## Confirmation message & email confirmation

No confirmation message is displayed to your customer in-between checkouts.

However, you can choose to send a confirmation email after each successful checkout.

Choose from the following options:

* Default email
* Custom email
* No email

## Testing linking your checkout to another checkout

We recommend testing linking your checkout to another checkout to make sure everything is working as expected.

1. Edit your first checkout
2. From the **Preview**, complete your checkout fields and submit
3. The preview should display the next checkout
4. For a checkout that requires payment, use the **Test card** details to complete the test payment
5. Check to make sure that fields with the same **Reference** in Checkout 1 are being pre-filled in Checkout 2

#### Testing checklist

* Does each checkout break up your customer's journey into logical steps?
* Are your checkout links in the correct order?
* Are your checkouts missing information, variants, downloads, or fields?
* Do duplicate fields have exactly the same field reference?
* Are the appropriate fields hidden?

Let your customer move to the next checkout by linking your checkouts together or splitting your checkouts into multiple steps.
